A functional requirement is an identifiable function of the system on a high level. It is reflected in one or more use cases.

- GWS3 can be installed on a PC in order to be used offline/standalone. The GWS3 standalone can be synchronized later after going online.
- GWS3 is a tool platform which where functions can be activated or downloaded. Functions can also be called plugins.

The user can organise texts. A project can have text. The text can be origanised in chapters. Text can be added to a table, chart or map. Text can appear as plain text or as tooltips. Text can be added to a report. Text can be of different languages.
